A printer is capable of printing the entire house, according to a startup.
A 3D printed house, by way of an open source model, could print out a home that is as tall as a house in Manhattan, or as low as a single-story home.
The 3D house would be assembled on a computer by a user’s hand, with a model of the house printed on top of the model.
A 3D scanner then scans the printed model and produces a 3-D model of a part, such as a door.
The printer would then assemble the 3D model, print out the parts and assemble the house.
The printer would cost $5,000 and the model would be 3D-printed.
The company, called Home Printing, was founded by an engineer from MIT and MIT graduate student Alexi Sipriano.
The company’s goal is to build 3D printers that are affordable, simple and durable.
Home Printing says it has a partnership with a company that makes a 3d printer that is able to print an entire house in three minutes.
