AS Roma midfielder Roberto Sanza insists he won’t be distracted by the media’s focus on him scoring a goal.
The 24-year-old, who has scored twice for Roma in the league this season, is currently the subject of a number of reports, with the media reporting that the midfielder has signed for a new contract.
But Sanz, who is currently training with the national team, denied the reports and defended his performances at Roma.
“If you read about my performance at Roma, you know I have been performing well,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
“I haven’t lost my enthusiasm, I am just having fun with it.
I’ve scored two goals and two assists so far this season and that is my goal, to keep scoring goals and get the team to the next level.”
In a press conference after the 4-0 victory over Napoli, the Italy international admitted that it was hard for him to concentrate on the news.
“We have to keep playing and we have to continue doing our job,” he said.
“For me, the media focus has always been on the players’ performances and I think the public doesn’t realise that we have some players that can perform.”
They ask about me scoring, but they don’t think about the fact that I’m scoring.
“I am happy to continue playing.
I have played well in this league and it has been great to score goals and help our team to progress.
I am not thinking about the media, I just enjoy the game and playing.”
